WEC is starting to circle the drain

I'm worried that it's going to turn into a horsepower arms race. First, Toyota wowed us with the 1,000HP TS040, then they added 100HP for this year. Now Nissan comes in with 1,250HP. I'm worried this will turn into a horsepower arms race and ruin the WEC.

Toyota TS020 for your time, still one of the best-looking LMP cars ever made IMO.

Wait... You don't want to see engineering innovation and improvement? Would you prefer a spec series?

If I didn't make myself clear, I don't want the teams to start waving their dicks in each others faces. I like the engineering innovation, but I'm worried it's going to be only about horsepower.

at this rate they'll be quicker than an F1 car.

and that's a good thing

The 1,250HP is the marketing horsepower. Actual race horsepower will be well under the 1,000 mark. It's hard to keep a car running at it's absolute maximum performance for an entire race, just look at Top Fuel drag racing. They have to rebuild after a run of only a few seconds.

I don't really get that from the GT-R LM. I know the PR people keep talking about 2,000 HP, but there's so much more at play with that car. The aerodynamics alone are stunning.

The WEC's been pretty terrible as an actual sports car series pretty much since it's inception. Now it's got four factories and one of them is running a god damn 1,250 horsepower front wheel drive flow-through car that shoots fire at the driver. I'd say that's the opposite of circling the drain.

there were horsepower wars with the class c prototype cars. And much like today you have fuel flow / capacity limits. There are a lot of regulations, gas, diesel, energy storage capacity / usage per lap. It makes it complicated, but keeps the cars semi comparative

HP won't help if the rest of the package is crap, I can't wait to see what the Nissan does.

750hp electric power = enough torque to move the planets out of alignment. That's what goes to the rears. I predict all of the steers! MORE STEERS THAN A TEXAS CATTLE DRIVE!
